The stakeholders met virtually using an online collaboration tool to map the steps involved as well as the other processes & departments with which they interact (Figure 1).
Assess the Process Honestly
The workshop participants identified the areas where disconnects, or pain points (identified in Figure 1 by the red numbers), can be found in the process. They appear most frequently at points where product and/or information are passing from one group to another. For example, when the volunteers use the picklist to repack the order (step 3 in Figure 1). A high number of disconnects indicates the step in the process where intervention is needed most.
